How to Book Your Tickets for the Amer Fort Light and Sound Show
Securing your spot for the Light and Sound Show is straightforward. You have two convenient options: booking online in advance or purchasing tickets at the venue. We highly recommend online booking for a hassle-free experience.
Option 1: Online Booking (Highly Recommended)
Booking your tickets online is the most efficient way to guarantee your entry and save valuable time.
- Official Website: The most direct source is the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) website: [`www.rtdc.tourism.rajasthan.gov.in`](https://www.rtdc.tourism.rajasthan.gov.in).
- Authorized Partners: Popular and reliable third-party platforms like BookMyShow and MakeMyTrip also sell these tickets. A quick search for “Amer Fort Light and Sound Show” on these apps will lead you right to the booking page.
Benefits of Online Booking:
- Skip the Line: Avoid potentially long queues at the ticket counter, especially during weekends and peak tourist season.
- Guaranteed Entry: The show can sell out. An online reservation ensures you won’t be disappointed upon arrival.
- Convenience: You can book from your hotel or on the go, often with multiple payment options (credit/debit card, UPI, net banking).
Option 2: Offline Booking (At the Venue)
If you prefer to purchase tickets in person, you can buy them at the official ticket counter.
- Location: The ticket window is located at the Amer Fort complex, near the entrance to the Maota Lake garden area where the show is held. Look for signs pointing towards “Light and Sound Show Ticket Counter.”
- Our Recommendation: If you choose this option, make sure to arrive at least 45-60 minutes before the showtime. This gives you enough time to find parking, locate the counter, wait in line, and secure your tickets before they sell out. Arriving just as the show is about to start is a risk, as you may find the “House Full” sign up.
Pro Tip: Whether you book online or offline, try to reach the seating area 20-30 minutes before the show begins to get a spot with the best, unobstructed view of the fort.
Best Time to Visit & Seasonal Variations
To ensure you catch the show at the right time, it’s important to know that the schedule shifts with the seasons. During the winter months (October to February), the shows are typically held earlier, with the first show at 6:30 PM and the second at 7:30 PM. As the days get longer in the summer (March to September), the start times are pushed back, usually to 7:00 PM for the first show and 8:00 PM for the second. A wonderful bonus of arriving before sunset is that the Amer Fort is beautifully illuminated in the evening light. The period just after the sun sets, when the fort is lit up against the twilight sky but the show hasn’t begun, provides a spectacular and highly recommended photo opportunity.
How to Reach Amer Fort for the Show
Reaching Amer Fort for the evening show is straightforward, with several convenient transportation options. The most flexible and common method is to hire a taxi or an auto-rickshaw for a round trip, allowing you to schedule your journey there and back with ease. Ride-hailing services like Uber and Ola are also widely available and reliable in Jaipur. Alternatively, you can look into local tourist buses that often include Amer Fort on their routes. It’s advisable to arrange your return vehicle in advance, as options can be less plentiful immediately after the show concludes.
We highly recommend hiring a bike in Jaipur to reach places like Amer during wee hours.
What to Expect: The Seating & Experience
The setting for the Light and Sound Show is an open-air amphitheatre with stepped, concrete seating facing the magnificent Amer Fort and the Maota Lake. To make your 50-minute experience more comfortable, consider bringing a shawl or a small cushion to sit on. The experience is as much about the atmosphere as it is about the show itself. Feel the cool evening breeze, watch the grand fort transform into a giant screen, and see its reflection shimmer on the lake’s surface. It’s a truly immersive and magical experience where history, technology, and nature come together to create a memorable night.
There are many other places where you can enjoy the sound show like an exclusive musical event held at city’s Central Park and a musical theatre show at Hawa Mahal on selected days.

I didn’t like the Light and Sound Amer Fort show because I went at wrong timing. I went for Hindi but the show was running in English.

The light show is pathetic. If you watch it, it’s a waste of time and money. It can give you a migraine. A normal person can’t tolerate it till the end.
